Countertops set the tone
Your countertops are the most-touched surface in your kitchen and the biggest visual anchor. We help you choose the right material for how you cook and live — quartz, granite, marble, butcher block, or laminate — then handle precise templating, CNC fabrication, seam placement, edge profiling, and sealing.
Choosing the right material
There’s no single “best” countertop. Here’s how we frame the decision:
- Quartz — engineered stone with a non-porous surface. Zero maintenance, no sealing, high stain resistance. Best for busy family kitchens and low-maintenance homes.
- Granite — natural stone with unique patterns. Handles heat well. Needs periodic sealing (typically once a year). Great for heavy cooks.
- Marble — the classic look. Softer and more stain-prone than granite or quartz. Best for lower-traffic kitchens or homeowners who love the patina it develops.
- Butcher block — warm and workable. Sand and re-oil to refresh. Perfect for island tops or a warm accent alongside stone counters.
- Laminate — the budget option. Modern laminates look far better than the ones you remember, and they hold up well.
| Material | Maintenance | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Quartz | None — no sealing | Busy family kitchens |
| Granite | Reseal ~yearly | Heavy cooks, heat tolerance |
| Marble | Higher — stain-prone | Low-traffic, classic look |
| Butcher block | Sand & re-oil | Islands, warm accents |
| Laminate | Low | Budget-conscious remodels |

What we handle
Our countertop installation covers every step from selection through install:
- Slab selection — we work with regional suppliers like Mont Granite and Triton Stone, and we can meet you at their yards to view slabs before cutting.
- Precise templating — laser or physical templating for exact dimensions, including undermount sink cutouts, cooktop openings, and edge details.
- CNC fabrication — cuts, edges, and finishes done in-shop for accuracy.
- Edge profiling — ogee, bullnose, beveled, eased, and custom edges available. See our edge profiles guide for a visual walkthrough.
- Seam placement — planned strategically to minimize visibility and preserve structural integrity.
- Waterfall island edges — mitered slab returns for a seamless flow down the sides of your island.
- Installation and sealing — we handle the install and finish with material-appropriate sealing.
What drives the price
Countertops are typically priced per installed square foot, but a few factors move the number:
- Material grade and thickness — a premium quartz or exotic granite slab costs more than a builder-grade option.
- Edge complexity — decorative edges (ogee, cove) require more fabrication than an eased or beveled edge.
- Seams — more seams (larger kitchens) require more fabrication.
- Waterfall edges — mitered waterfalls need extra slab material and precise fabrication.
- Cutouts — undermount sinks, cooktops, and additional cutouts add cost.

Common questions about countertops
Which countertop material is best? +
It depends on how you cook and live. Quartz is durable and low-maintenance with no sealing. Granite handles heat well but needs periodic sealing. Marble is beautiful but softer and stain-prone. Butcher block brings warmth and can be sanded down. We help you pick based on your kitchen.
What does 'per square foot' include? +
Our per-square-foot price typically includes material, templating, fabrication, edge profiling, sink cutouts, and installation. We flag any extras (waterfall edges, complex seams, premium slabs) up front — no surprise line items.
How long does installation take? +
After templating and fabrication (typically 1-2 weeks), installation itself usually takes one day. The full countertop timeline from measure to install is usually 2-3 weeks.
Do you handle sink cutouts and edge profiles? +
Yes. Undermount sink cutouts, cooktop cutouts, and all standard edge profiles (ogee, bullnose, beveled, eased) are handled in fabrication. We coordinate directly with your plumber for sink and faucet install.
What about seams? +
We place seams strategically to minimize visibility and keep them structurally sound. On smaller kitchens, seamless installs are often possible. On larger runs, we plan seams around less-visible corners and away from high-use areas.
